The Only Thing We Overlook Is The Water

Fall Pheasant Hunting,

The Way It Ought To Be.

DAKOTA RIVER PHEASANT NEWS

April 2008 What a Spring

What a spring we have been having at Dakota River Ranch. With some record snow falls in early April it certainly has added water to the area. The deep snows have not affected the pheasant population so the number of hens able to set on eggs should be strong.

We have been scheduling group hunts recently so if you are considering a hunt get in touch with us as soon as possible. The November time frame has some openings, but also one might want to consider an early October hunt. Over 2,500 acres are available at the ranch for hunting in October, before the official season opens. The weather is generally quite nice and after the hunt there is a more light in the evening to enjoy the view at the ranch.

Dennis is getting the farm equipment ready for the spring planting. Many new food plots and cover groups will be instigated for this year’s hunts. We look forward to a strong fall hunting the roosters!

Be sure an check over the web site and contact Jody to see what is available for hunts for the fall season

February 26, 2008 Mid Winter Looks Good

Recently we traveled to DRR to check out the snow conditions and the lodge. It was quite cold at the ranch but the birds didn't seem to mind. The sun was out and in the late afternoon the birds were out in the bean fields and cut cornfields foraging for grain.  Very good numbers of birds for breeding stock and all looked in great shape. It is still mid winter and some serious snow could still come but the birds are set for a good spring breeding population.

Things are looking good at the ranch with some new amenities planned and new meal menus. Those of you who hunted in 2007 will see a few changes and for those that haven't hunted for a couple years contact Jody and get your group rebooked. We do have some time frames open in the fall.  We can start the opener during the first couple weekends in October for an early hunt if that works into your group's schedule. Jody can be reached at jpudwill@abe.midco.net for a reservation.

On another note, we welcome any comments from the hunters who have hunted at the ranch. Contact Jody or Mark and tell us your needs or things you would desire during your hunt.  Dennis is planning the fields for maximum pheasant production and some good field arrangements for some exciting hunting areas.
