PHEASANT
HUNT ESSENTIALS
Mid-October on the Dakota Prairie has seen the extremes of a snowstorm in
1996 and health-threatening ninety degree heat in 2003. December hunting
records a weather history almost as contrasting. We encourage you to be well prepared with proper clothing. Sun, rain,
snow, heat, and cold - we will be hunting. Dress in layers with moisture wicking synthetics and/or wool. Wind and
rain is conquered with outer clothing lined with Gor-Tex. Dress also for
safety; be liberal in your use of blaze orange. Pay special attention to
footwear. As your health and fitness permits, you will be walking and walking
and walking some more. A pair of good, waterproof upland boots or two will
serve you well. Boot dryers are available at the Bunkhouse. Finally, protect your
eyes with safety glasses. ·
