James River Archery Hunt
Dakota River Ranch is located in the James River
valley in South
Dakota. The
Ranch has over six miles of river bottom. This area is well known for trophy
class whitetails; 150- to 160-class deer are common.
In the early fall before the upland bird season begin, we offer a limited
number of opportunities for archery hunting of these river whitetails.
A
typical day in the field begins with an “O-Dark Thirty” breakfast, followed
by a brief meeting to cover safe hunting practices. Then you will be
transported to your stand at least one hour before sunrise. Permanent stands
as well as lock-on stands are available. Our guides select the hunting area
each day based on their knowledge of local habitat, weather conditions and
surrounding hunting pressure, to insure plenty of opportunities for a
successful hunt.
We will custom-tailor the hunt
to your specific needs. Some hunters prefer to remain in the stand all day;
we will provide them with a bag lunch and beverages. Others prefer to come
back to lodge for lunch, in which case we will provide transportation for the
noon meal and a return for the hunt at dusk.
